Hello Teachers and Mentors,

I scored a cutoff of 186.5 in the MPC group (Tamil Nadu State Board). I am keen on Computer Science or Artificial Intelligence & Data Science branches. What strategy should I follow when organizing my choice list during the TNEA online counselling rounds?

How many choices should I include, and how do I balance top government colleges versus top tier-1 autonomous colleges in Chennai and Coimbatore? Any guidance would be deeply appreciated!

Excellent question! With a 186.5 cutoff, you have strong possibilities in top Tier-1 and Tier-2 engineering colleges.

Here are the golden rules for Choice Filling:
1. **Tiered Layering**: Group your choices into Dream (top 5-10 with cutoffs slightly above yours), Realistic (your core target colleges matching 184-187 cutoff), and Safe (solid backup options with 180-184 cutoffs).
2. **Maximum Choices**: Never restrict yourself to 10-15 choices. Fill at least 40 to 60 choices.
3. **Order Priority**: Ensure you place your most preferred college + branch combo at rank 1, descending down to your backup options.
